SACSCOC Reaffirms LSCO’s Accreditation Status Through 2035
(LSCO) has officially received a full 10-year reaffirmation
of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission
on Colleges (SACSCOC), marking a significant milestone in the college’s commitment
to excellence in higher education.
Following a comprehensive review process, including an on-site visit in October 2024, LSCO received a flawless report from the SACSCOC evaluation committee. The committee issued zero findings for the compliance report and offered no recommendations for its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) marking an exceptional outcome that reflects LSCO’s dedication to academic integrity, continuous improvement, and student success.
The SACSCOC Board of Trustees officially approved the committees report and reaffirmed accreditation during its June 2025 meeting.
“This reaffirmation is a powerful validation of the work our faculty and staff do every day to support our students,” said LSCO President Dr. Wendy Elmore. “It affirms that LSCO meets the highest standards in higher education and strengthens the trust our community places in us.”
Accreditation is essential for institutions of higher education across the United States. It signals that an institution meets rigorous standards of quality and effectiveness. Accreditation also provides students, families, and the public with confidence in the education offered and ensures that credits earned can be recognized and transferred across other accredited colleges and universities.
The reaffirmation process includes an extensive internal review, submission of a compliance certification report, an off-site committee evaluation of the compliance certification report, an on-site visit by a peer review committee, and the development of a forward-thinking QEP. LSCO’s QEP focuses on enhancing student learning and early support services, reinforcing the college’s strategic priorities.
“This incredible outcome would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the entire LSCO family,” said Patty Collins, Assistant Vice President, Operations & Institutional Services. “We’re proud of where we are and even more excited about where we are headed.”
